Abstract:

Climate change has become a challenge with adverse impacts on Earth. Reducing the use of fossil fuel is a primary step to solve environmental problems. As the population continues to rise, to meet the growing demand for construction with a large share in energy Consumption, Efforts to make the built environment more energy efficient is crucial. The main objective of this research is to evaluate the relationship between urban form and the energy performance of neighborhoods, focusing on their energy demand, through case studies of Ghatarchyan and Mobarakabad neighborhoods in Sanandaj city. The forms of these neighborhoods were measured using spatial metrics (physical and climatic criteria). For analysis and evaluation, ECOTECT, GIS software, and ANP method have been used. The results of the research indicate a negative correlation between spatial metrics and building energy performance. Therefore, if the spatial metrics amount of each neighborhood increases, neighborhood energy demand will decrease. Moreover, the result can form a basis for urban design recommendations to achieve energy-efficient urban development through spatial design.

Abstract:

Present paper studies the relationship between physical and social quality of neighborhood with neighborhood associations in Sanandaj city. In order to do so, firstly, dimensions of urban spaces were defined and then through identification of neighborhood associations, the relationship between urban spaces and neighborhood associations was studied. It was found that social goals such as neighbors’ interaction, collective feeling, neighborhood identity and social equilibrium are involved in physical design and locating of neighborhood units. Findings show that there is a significantly meaningful relationship between urban social and physical dimensions and neighborhood associations of citizens. Practical implications of this research is that urban administrators and law enforcement bodies should pay more attention to social and physical organization of neighborhoods. Reconstruction of facades of buildings and public places, strengthening public services and improving green spaces, parks and leisure centers have determining role in strengthening of neighborhood ties.

Abstract:

The issue of energy crisis is considered as one of the main problems of this century. This has led to increased attention to renewable energy. In this regard, several solutions have been proposed to decrease the use of fuel and make more use of clean energy, including solar energy in various fields. On the other hand, in recent decades, most of the cities have expanded unprecedentedly. In many cases, physical expansion has resulted in high congestion, environmental pollution, and waste of time, fuel, and energy. Therefore, experts have proposed high-rise construction as one of the appropriate solutions for the development of cities (Cheng et al. 2006). While tall buildings, especially in large cities, due to shading, affect the amount of sunlight to their surroundings (Andreou, 2014; Jose et.al, 2011; Hayati and Sayadi, 2012). Therefore, high-rise construction should be done in a way that does not reduce the use of solar energy as much as possible. In addition to lowering the temperature of the building, the shade also makes it difficult for snow to melt naturally and rainwater to evaporate. With proper design of buildings in order to benefit from sunlight, the consumption of fossil fuels in buildings, especially in cold seasons and cold regions, is reduced to some extent. The effect of shading on the surrounding environment depends on various factors such as the height of the buildings and the distance between them. The taller a building is, the longer its shadow. In addition, the length of the shadow varies in different seasons; The longest shade occurs on the first day of winter. In this research, shading with real three-dimensional data of Adab 2 neighborhood of Sanandaj city, which includes several buildings, has been investigated. Sanandaj is the capital of Kurdistan Province in Iran, with a population of 412767 (in 1395). The selected study area is one of the areas where the rate of density and construction is relatively high and the issue of shading has not been given enough attention. In addition, the mountainous nature of the region and its cold climate have increased the need for sunlight, especially in cold seasons. This area has a latitude of 35 degrees and 17 minutes to 35 degrees and 18 minutes and a longitude of 46 degrees and 59 minutes to 47 degrees and 00 minutes east of the Greenwich meridian. Until the present study, no article on the practical use of GIS for shading in the country had been published in the relevant journals.

Abstract:

In the last decade the quality of the urban environment has become a specific significant issue and research shows that the urban environment include the environmental quality components. The efficiency of the urban environment will be reduced if these components are neglected. Thus, this study aims to identify semantic-perceptual factors that affects the quality of the urban environments. Also, this paper aims at studying the relationship between these components and their role in the quality of the environment in Sanandaj Qatarchyan neighborhood. This is an applied research in which descriptive-analytic method is used. Data collection tools of this research has been questionnaire which consists of the semantic-conceptual expression of the quality of the environment: identity, sense of belonging, legibility and security. This paper aims to investigate the spatial-physical environment quality of Sanandaj Qatarchyan neighborhood from residents’ point of view based on demographic variables (Age, gender, residence history and education) and to look for more scientific explanation and more expertise view on factors influencing the environment quality. Accordingly, the theoretical literature on environment quality and related conceptual framework has shaped principles and theoretical model of study. Theoretical model has hierarchical structure and is based on empirical research perspective and according to questionnaires received from residents’ perception of study subject. In this model, conceptual-perceptual component of environmental quality includes four indicators of identity, sense of belonging, readability, safety and security; each of its sub-criteria was the base of study for the questionnaire. This study is applicable in terms of objective and is descriptive-analytic in terms of research methodology. The sample size of questionnaire for district (Sanandaj Qtarchyan neighborhood) was 343 inhabitants using Cochran formula and considering the maximum heterogeneity hypothesis. Questionnaire validity was studied and confirmed according to experts and Cronbach’ s alpha coefficients (0. 75). SPSS software and one-sample t-test were used in order to analyze the data and investigate the semantic-conceptual quality, ANOVA and LSD post hoc test were used in order to compare the views of people in terms of demographic variables and finally, Spearman’ s rank correlation coefficient was used in order to examine the relationship between demographic variables and twenty-three components of semantic-conceptual component of environment quality. Residents consider functional-activity, perceptual-conceptual and aesthetic-appearance components significantly more than average among the second level criteria of experimental model. Quality of environmental factor is significantly lower than average level. This result can be due to a lack of green space, contradiction of work and environment, congestion of cars and dilapidated buildings atmosphere in study area. It was found that three criteria of identity, sense of belonging and readability are significantly higher than average and security is significantly lower than average. Visual and symbolic pollution, neglecting the needs and constraints of low income and lower-middle-class residents in designing space, narrow passageways and damaged buildings in city context are among the negative factors affecting the low security of mentioned area. According to results, the age and authenticity, symbolic values, religious identity, maintaining professional identity, collective identity and strong mental memory, personal-social dependency, collective memory, meaning of space are related to body-sense understanding of the elements of the neighborhood, that are fit between the pause and movement. Finally, the presence of local residents of the indicators is a positive correlation. Living history of authenticity, symbolic values, maintaining local identity, human identity, collective identity, strong mind and memory, personal-social dependency, meaning of space are in a positive correlation. Also the presence of space is negative and significant. Findings focus on the fact that four perceptual-conceptual components have significant and positive correlation with environment quality. This indicates that a combination of semantic-conceptual indicators can predict environmental quality. The results show that environmental quality of Sanandaj Qtarchyan neighborhood is significantly higher than average (1 <3 <08 <5). The inhabitants of the criteria in the second model, the functional components-activities, semantic-conceptual and aesthetic form-are significantly higher than the average. Quality as well as environmental factors are significantly lower than the average level. This result can be due to lack of green space, lack of fitness activities in the environment, congestion of cars and dilapidated buildings in the study area. Residents complained only from safety among four semantic-conceptual components of environment quality. Also, there is significant relationship among people perspectives on semantic-conceptual quality in terms of demographic variables.

Abstract:

Neighborhoods are one of the most important and vital elements of urban social life. In the theoretical foundations regarding new neighborhood development, the importance of neighborhood residents’ participation is emphasized within process-oriented and interaction- oriented planning patterns. Local community planning emphasizing a bottom- up viewpoint, accents the local resident’s empowerment and advancement of their social capitals and collective participation. This investigation intends studying the role of local community participation in sustainable social development of Sartapola neighborhood. Research methodology is based on a descriptive-analytical method and the research type is practical. Required data is collected through surveying and questionnaire. Sampling has been done targeted, through choosing 50 household’s heads among all 308 households, using Cochran formula with confidence level 93 percent. Finally the outcomes were analyzed using SPSS software. The final results show that the factors such as robust social convergence among neighbors, trust among residents and enough sense of belonging to the neighborhood have the most effective role in the neighborhood social sustainability. There is also a meaningful relationship between sense of belonging to the neighborhood with dwelling time and the participation level in neighborhood social sustainability (applying Pearson Correlation Coefficient, the significance level for both indexes is less than 0.05 and their solidarity intensity is more than 0.5, respectively 0.779 and 0.903) In addition, the indexes “belonging sense to the neighborhood, the trust among residents, the restoration and the rehabilitation of the neighborhood decay fabric and neighborhood satisfaction” with numeric values respectively 0.212, 0.771, 0.338 and 0.143 have a direct relationship and the indexes “involving in collective activities, caring for neighborhood residents’ profits, social convergence among neighbors and women participation” with numeric values respectively 0.171, 0.234, 01.85 and 0.027 have an indirect relationship with local community sustainability.

Abstract:

The main goal of this research is objective and subjective evaluation of effective qualities of urban design on individual physical activity and the relationship between these two sets of qualities in four different neighborhoods of Sanandaj, which have different morphological characteristics. Recent researches show that built environment design plays an important role in facilitating or limiting physical activity. Subjective data on self-reported information about health, daily physical activity and people’ s perceptions of their neighborhood environment were collected among 421 of the resident’ s using a questionnaire. In the objective method, information gathered in accordance with the investigated factors provided using the GIS (Geographic Information System). SPSS software version 25 was used to analyze and explain the relationship between objective and perceived environment with physical activity. relations between variables were determined by linear regression. In the next step, the walkability index and walk score were calculated using objective data. Finally, the relationship between variables was determined by utilizing factor analysis in AMOS software. Through various statistical methods, this study found that objective qualities did not have a significant relationship with physical activity of residents, but these qualities affect subjective qualities as a mediator variable that directly influences physical activity.

Abstract:

Introduction: The challenges of urban life, such as the reduction of the environment's role as a space for citizens' presence and physical activity, the increase in vehicle usage, and the resultant inactivity and rise in non-communicable diseases, have raised global concerns about public health. This research aims to evaluate both subjectively and objectively the environmental criteria affecting the general health of residents in three dimensions: physical, psychological, and social, within the Agha Zaman neighborhood of Sanandaj city.Material and Methods: The collection of subjective and objective research data was conducted sequentially. The research was divided into four phases. The first phase involved a subjective qualitative assessment of residents regarding their mental and social health. The second phase involved collecting quantitative subjective data about residents' physical health. The third phase was a quantitative objective assessment of the environment. The fourth phase examined the correlation between the research variables. Subjective data were obtained using a questionnaire, while objective data were gathered using a geographic information system (GIS). Regression analysis in SPSS software was used to analyze the relationship between neighborhood environmental criteria and physical activities, and to determine the relationship between variables. Objective data, such as the type of block arrangement, spatial pattern of the neighborhood, land use layer, and road network, were calculated using GIS and entered into the space syntax index to determine the neighborhood's pedestrianization. Finally, the relationships and effects of environmental criteria on public health were identified using regression analysis in Lisrel software. Results and Discussion: The results showed that environmental comfort and tranquility, with a score of 23, and social interactions and neighborhood culture, with a score of 21, have the greatest impact on mental and social health, respectively. Additionally, environmental criteria such as a mix of uses (score: 5.671), visual and aesthetic qualities (score: 7.961), and special infrastructure for pedestrians and bicycles (score: 8.475) have the most significant impact on physical work, leisure, and sports activities. Consequently, these criteria influence physical health. According to the data, Namaki Street, with a score of 21, has the highest level of connectivity, interconnection, depth, and control within the neighborhood, leading to the highest level of pedestrian circulation. Conclusion: The overall results indicate that due to the direct impact and relationship of urban design environmental criteria on physical activities, and the positive and meaningful relationship between physical activities and general health, it is evident that the general health of residents is related to the environmental criteria of urban design. However, this relationship is mediated by physical activities.

Abstract:

Islamic culture is one of the fundamental human issues that the comprehensiveness of the Holy Quran and authentic narrations are expected to have a proper answer to it. The primary purpose of this study is to identify the aspects of the effects of Islamic culture on the social relations of the residents of the Sartapuleh neighborhood and to investigate the effect of physical elements with different functions, especially religious buildings, on the type of socialization of residents. Due to the decrease in the social importance of neighborhoods over time, this study aims to achieve a model to improve the social qualities of neighborhoods with cohesive elements. Therefore, from the content analysis method based on theoretical principles in social cohesion in accordance with the Holy Quran, the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH), and Nahj al-Balaghah, three components of good social cohesion or social cohesion including virtue, dignity, and participation were obtained. While preparing a questionnaire according to the examples of the above components, according to Cochran's formula, 100 residents and neighborhood businesses were selected as a sample, and the results showed that the components of dignity have a score of 3.44, virtue 3.36, and participation0.66. According to the standard analysis of the Likert Five-Scale Questionnaire, virtue and dignity are in the range of 2 to 3.5, ineffective, and the component of participation is in the opposite range. Finally, social cohesion is in relatively good condition, and suggestions are made to strengthen it.

Abstract:

Housing is one of the most basic needs of human life and is considered as the smallest component of settlements and is still recognized as the most important need of new societies. Providing this need is always more vital for vulnerable groups. The present article was formed with the aim of adapting the strategy of the national housing movement plan to the neighborhood-oriented planning system in Sanandaj city. The research method is descriptive-analytical and the research data was collected by library and document method and using a questionnaire. The results of this research showed that the combined SWAT-EHP method was used to present the strategy, which first included the qualitative part and Then a quantitative SWAT part was performed. After determining the internal and external factors and then formulating 4 strategies based on relative weighting (AHP) and absolute weighting of the weighting factors and then the strategies were determined, and based on the value obtained for each strategy, its priority was determined. The chosen strategy in this research is the WO strategy, which is the strategy of adaptation or minimizing weaknesses and making the most of opportunities. The proposed strategy is economically oriented and based on long-term and continuous planning. Considering the size of residential units, the uniformity of patterns used in the design of residential units, services, etc. (especially in complex buildings), it seems that the voids governing the said housing pattern are not taken into consideration. Provision of public spaces and services in this
